Amposta Carnival is normally a 3 day affair, being split into the main carnival, the children’s carnival and then the burial of the sardine.
The main carnival of course has the parade, which normally takes place on the Saturday evening. Earlier in the day, at 11am in the morning the registration for costumes takes place, which is then followed at 12 noon by a session of vermouth, which has been given to the people by the Carnival Queen and King.¨This takes place at the market building, and the carnival parade throughout the streets.
