Tarraco a Taula
Tarraco a Taula Tarragona
Festival Date: 07-05-2015
Tarraco a Taula supports Tarraco Viva, and is a restaurant associated that organises Roman cuisine sessions during Tarraco Viva. For example the 2014 edition had imperial cuisine as its theme. As well as the restaurants that take part, in more recent years an ice cream parlour and a bakery have taken part, both recovering the ancient Roman methods that were used to produce nectars and breads.
Full tasting menus normally cost between €25 to €35, and are packed full of tasty, Roman dishes.
During Tarraco Viva, that this is linked to, there are workshops, conferences and re-enactments of what daily life was like in this era. Also on offer are gladiatorial fights, period soldiers, music, theatre and some fine food on offer.

A New York Times critic, Florence Fabricant, said this about Tarragona: “We left Tarragona feeling as though we had been let in on a wonderful secret that told not only of the reach of ancient Rome, but of other historic periods, layered within and around the city. And that the secret was meant to be shared.”
